Match Report TSI World BeesIHC vs Raiders IHC

The Bees returned to Slough on Sunday , victorious after an overtime win on Saturday night in Basingstoke.  With Juha Lindgren sealing the deal there.

Bees were without Alan Lack, Skate Slade, Nicklas Ornmarker and any of the players on two way contracts with the Jets.  Raiders were with influential captain Aaron Connolly and James Hounsome

Starting Netminders were Curtis Warburton for the Bees and Michael Grey for the Raiders

The first period started brightly for the Bees winning the opening face off and breaking down the ice to start on the attack.  This was cut short at 2:46 when Bees Joe Baird was sent to the box for Slashing.  Despite some good pressure from the Raiders, they never found a way past Warburton who was more than up for this challenge.  He was helped also by the Bees defence.  Both teams were piling on the pressure looking for a way to get the lead.  In a period of end to end hockey, which as allowed to flow by the referees.  The Bees found a breakthrough at 13:19 when James Galazzi scored assisted Josh Martin and Ryan Webb to give the home the lead.  Penalties were called  at 13:57 when Raiders Dan Scott was sent to the box for Roughing and Bees James Galazzi also joined him for Interference.  Four on four opened up the ice and both team had there chances.  Warburton of the Bees saved a couple of great chances for the Raiders .  Bees had their first powerplay of the night at 17:13 when JJ Pitchley was sent to the box for holding.  The Bees piled the pressure on the Raiders, but the penalty was killed.  The first period ended 1-0 to the Bees.

The second started as the first had finished when at 22:20 Will Stead managed to sneak the puck past Grey in the Raiders net, doubling their lead assisted Josh Smith and Zaine McKenzie.  The action continued to be end to end when the Raiders found a way through at 34:20 when Sladkovsky was left alone in front of the net assisted Baldock and Sylvester.  Still both teams tested each other up and down the ice.  JJ Pitchley was sent to the box at 37:45 for Interference.  The Bees heaped the pressure on the raiders, but just couldn’t find a way through.  The period ended at 2-1 to the Bees

We knew that the third period was going to be huge for both teams.  Both stepped up their physicality and even tried a few sneak puck and stick tricks, but the defence of both teams were equal to it.  Both netminders were playing a blinder and it was going to take something special to score.  At 42:37 Bees Stuart Mogg was adjudged a 2 minute tripping minor, Bees got into more trouble at 43:55 when Joe Baird received 2 for hooking.  The Bees dug deep to kill off the 3 on 5 shorthanded.  Pressure was relieved at 45:28 when Raiders Oli Baldock was sent to the box for holding,  The Bees managed to work hard and get back to full strength.  When at 46:10 Galazzi scored his second of the night on the powerplay with a rocket from the blue line assisted by Gabaj.  Just over a minute later the Bees scored again after some great work when Ed Bradley slotted home assisted Lindgren and McKenzie, the bees had found their groove and we’re putting some great chances together, only to be stopped by the Raiders Netminder.  They got there reward at 52:58 when Gabaj was given the freedom of Slough and skated round the defensive zone and found a way out, with Juha Lindgren breaking up the opposite wing, he floated a perfectly weighted pass over to him, he got the netminder to commit and poked the puck home also assisted by McKenzie. This capped off a 5-1 win for the Bees
