GAME TIMES
The game consists of 3 x 20 minute periods. The clock will stop for any stoppages in play.
TEAMS
Each team are only allowed 6 players on the ice at any one time (1 goalie & 5 skaters). The 5 skaters are usually 2 defencemen & 3 forwards. They are permitted in all areas of the icewith the exception of the goalie – They must remain within their defensive zone.
LINE CHANGES
Teams are able to change players at any time during the game. This can be during a stoppage in play or during gameplay. A departing platyer must be within 5 feet of their bench when a change is being made, but must not be involved in the play.
OFFSIDE
Offside is when any attacking player crosses over the blue line into the ‘Attacking Zone’ before the puck.
PENALTIES
If any rules of the game are broken during gameplay, the referee may call a penalty. If a penalty is called against a team, the offending player will sit out for a specific amount of time. Penalties are Minor (2 minutes), Major (5 minutes) & Misconduct (10 minutes, game or match). The referee will indicate the penalty using hand signals.
