Head Coach of the TSI World Bracknell Bees, Doug Sheppard, today announces that he has captured the signature of Roman Malinik who will pull on the black, white and gold for a third successive season.

Following the abrupt end to the 19/20 season Roman has now safely returned to the Czech Republic but before leaving Doug and Roman inked out a deal that will see him again call the Hive home next season.

Roman first came to the UK in 2016-17 and played for the Manchester Phoenix in the EPIHL on the back of a hugely successful career in his homeland and when the Phoenix folded mid-season Roman signed in Poland for Polonia Bytom. He started 2017/18 again with Polonia Bytom before the call came from Doug Sheppard who signed Roman to his treble winning Basingstoke Bison side for the 2017/18 season where he returned 10+26 from 26 games.

Signing Roman in Bracknell was a no brainer for Doug when he made the transfer down the M3 and so began Roman’s association with the Bees. In his first season at the Hive Roman posted 23+30 from 38 games and was a part of the first Bees team to appear at Coventry in a decade.

With the change in league last season to the new National League Roman was again one of the first signatures that had to be captured and didn’t disappoint again scoring at over a point a game and importantly he played a large part in helping to develop some of the young talent that’s making their way into the Bees line up. He will be looking to continue that role this season when he laces up again in Bracknell for the 20/21 season.

Roman has also represented his country at Under 20 level in 2008/09 and 2009/10.

The signing of Roman goes together with the previously announced signing of Dominik Gabaj for the 20/21 season and means Doug Sheppard has secured both his non-EIHA trained players.

Doug Sheppard explained his signing; “We’re building a core in Bracknell and no question Roman is part of that core. We had a strong finish to the season and Roman played a huge roll. He is a great two way centre and gives us the best one-two punch in the league down the middle.”

Roman Malinik said; “I’m pleased to be back with the Bees for a third season. We had a tough season last year so I’m looking forward to playing my part with the team Doug is building and giving our loyal fans something to cheer about next season as we look to have a successful year.

Roman stands at 5’11 and weighs 205 lbs. He shoots right handed.
