For week two of league action, the TSI World Bees had a double header with the Sheffield Steeldogs, first on the road before returning home for the second clash.

The teams played out a close match at Ice Sheffield with the home team breaking the deadlock at 19.02 when Nathan Salem scored for 1-0.

A scoreless second period followed before the drama of the third period. It took just 51 seconds for Dominic Gabaj to level the game and 44 seconds later Josh Smith scored for the Bees second and a lead. Bees held the lead until 52.53 when Jason Hewitt restored parity but a powerplay goal from Alex Graham with 4.12 left in the game became the game winning goal taking the points for the home team.

Back on home ice, the Bees enjoyed an amazing start with Josh Smith opening the scoring at 3.51 and followed by Dominic Gabaj at 6.27. The first period wasn’t all Bees though as the Steeldogs did pull a goal back at 11.56 through Matt Bissonette.

The middle period set up the win for the Bees as they completed a perfect 3-0 period. Goals came from Ed Bradley at 29.28 followed by delayed penalty goals from Bayley Harewood (32.30) and Mikey Power (33.06).

The third period saw the Steeldogs fight their way back into the game through Alex Graham at 54.13 and Lee Bonner at 55.06 before a time-out from the visitors saw them favour the empty net. Harewood’s second of the night was put home in to the empty net to conclude the scoring with Adam Goss picking up the Man of the Match for a 48 save night.

Following the weekend’s game Ice Hockey UK announced the squad for GB Under 20s which includes Bees players Juha Lindgren and Bayley Harewood.
