Dominik Gabaj struck early to give the Bees the lead at 2.47 with a powerplay goal from Roman Malinik doubling the score at 11.23. The first period clean sheet was ended by Brandon Ayliffe at 18.34 striking on a powerplay.

A powerplay goal from James Galazzi increased the Bees lead at 21.56 but, on a delayed penalty, Aaron Connolly scored at 32.48 to pull the game back to 2-3. Malinik’s second, at 38.47, would turn out to be the game winner but ended the second period the same as the first 1-2.

Connolly scored his second at 51.21 to again bring the game close but a powerplay goal from Josh Ealey-Newman added a margin of safety with 4.32 to play.
