Weekend Preview

Tonight the TSI World Bees take on the Telford Tigers at the Slough Ice Arena for the home fixture but then make the trip up to Peterborough to face the Phantoms for their away away fixture of the weekend on Sunday.

In the past games against the Tigers, the Bees have come away with 1 away win while the Tigers have come away with 2 wins. The Tigers have faced some difficulties over the past months with them now being without Captain Jason Silverthorn for the remainder of this season as well as Nick Oliver who is also ruled out for the rest of the 2022/23 season. However Telford over the course of this week have made some adjustments to their roster with the additions of Rory Herrman, a former Cardiff Devil as well as calling up Tom Carlon and Gareth O’Flaherty for the MK Thunder. Bees fans will recognise Gareth as he previously iced for the Bees in the 2019/20 season and Tom Carlon will also be recognised by the Bees faces after our encounter with the MK Lightning last weekend when Tom scored 2 goals and got 2 assists against the Bees. One to watch for the Tigers this weekend will be Finley Howells and Rhodes Mitchell-King. Rhodes has recently come back after being the Captain of the GB under 20s team in Lithuania and so far this season has gathered a total of 1 goal and 3 assists against the Bees but Finley Howells who got the ‘A’ with the 2021/22 GB under 20s team. So far this season Finley has a total of 4 goals and 3 assists against the Bees.

The past between the Phantoms and Bees is more in favour of the Phantoms as in 4 games so far this season Peterborough have come away with 4 wins against the Bees. A key player within the lineup for the Phantoms this weekend will be Glenn Billing, during the games Peterborough have had against the Bees this season Glenn has picked up 3 goals and 2 assists. Another one to watch for the Phantoms will be Austin Mitchell-King who has a total of 4 goals and 1 assist against the Bees. One thing the Phantoms do have is a very good junior foundation through Billy Thorpe and Archie Salisbury. Archie has been picked up by Elite League Nottingham Panthers while also balancing his time with Peterborough and Chelmsford. The Phantoms will be looking to stay within the top teams of the league as they are pushing for playoffs and a league title against Leeds Knights and MK Lightning.

This weekend will mark the start of the Pride campaign across the league where we will also be showcasing our pride jerseys for the 2022/23 season. We will start wearing these jerseys in our game against the Telford Tigers this weekend as well as our game against the Basingstoke Bison next weekend.
