The TSI World Bracknell Bees opened up a lead on Leeds at 12.21 thanks to a powerplay strike from Josh Smith but headed into the interval down a goal when Lewis Houston netted at 16.51 and Richard Bentham converted a powerplay at 19.36.

Two unanswered second period goals from Adam Barnes at 25.44 and 31.32 gave the Chiefs a decent lead by the end of the second period.

Will Stead reduced the Bees deficit at 52.42 and Bees elected for an empty net in the closing stages but Andreas Kopstals found the target with 55 seconds left to put the game safe.

The game’s first powerplay gave rise to the game’s first goal as Aidan Doughty scored at 6.20 but despite Bees killing their first penalty Lightning struck on their second powerplay as Liam Stewart levelled up the game at 15.29.

Robin Kovar netted 1.34 into the second period but Edward Knaggs scored at 23.18 to level at 2-2 leaving the rest of the middle period scoreless and setting up a tense final perid.

Two goals came from Milton Keynes within 1.06 which changed the momentum of the game. Tomas Kana scored a powerplay goal at 49.23 and Cale Tanaka converted a powerplay at 50.29. Roman Malinik scored an unassisted goal at 55.16 to bring the gap back to a single goal but Leigh Jamieson scored a breakaway chance at 55.41. Despite Harvey Stead pulling back a goal for the Bees with 3.32 left to play the home team couldn’t find the extra one they needed to force overtime.
